About Me
Andrew and David met in 1996 and married each other three times (2001, 2003 and 2008) before their union was legally recognized. Their daughter Katie was born in 2001 and son Jake in 2002 during the decade they lived in Alameda’s West End. Next-door neighbor Alice organically became the kids’ adopted grandmother and now the 5-person extended family lives together in the Montclair neighborhood of the Oakland Hills.
Andrew and David’s real estate journey began in 2000. Together they have become the most successful real estate agents and team in the Alameda/Berkeley/Oakland/Piedmont market, consistently ranked in the Wall Street Journal as among the top 100 Realtors in the country. They are the only Alameda County Realtors to be included in the rankings. They both received broker status in 2010.
Andrew’s life experiences include VP of Operations at Soyster & Young Marketing, Special Projects Administration for the Santa Clara County Office of Education, Landscape Designer, Contractor, and Restaurateur with The Sedona Grill in Berkeley. Andrew attended NYU, San Francisco State, UC Berkeley, and received a degree from Stony Brook University. In his youth, he danced with American Ballet Theater in NYC, bartended at Studio 54, lived in a monastery, worked as an EMT, and was a beekeeper in Pennsylvania.
David is a summa cum laude graduate of UCLA whose life experiences include European Content Manager for The Industry Standard, NYC Event Producer, Event Director, Co-founder of the 20+ year old Adirondack Theater Festival in Glens Falls, NY, and Director and Lecturer at San Francisco State University. In his youth, David appeared in leading roles on Broadway, national tours and in dozens of theatrical productions at many of the nation’s preeminent regional theaters.
Andrew and David are supporters of Impact Justice, Berkeley Repertory Theater, Cal Performances, Alameda Library Foundation, ACLU, Greenpeace, Planned Parenthood, The Sierra Club, and Family House, among other causes. David served on the Board of Trustees at Redwood Day School in Oakland and Andrew serves on the Board of Trustees at East Bay School for Boys in Berkeley and is a member of San Francisco Zen Center.
Andrew and David have also served as community activists and leaders regarding LGBTQ issues, organizing community responses and protests to Proposition 8, Marriage Equality, and serving in CARE, a grass-roots organization that successfully led the movement to bring a LGBTQ curriculum to the Alameda public schools. In the past, they have been activists/organizers/fund raisers for causes involving AIDS and HIV through ACT UP, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, and The San Francisco AIDS Foundation.
Their family can be seen in the HBO Documentary, A Family is a Family is a Family.
